Quinn says time to 'disinfect' Ill. government

CHICAGO – Gov. Pat Quinn says Illinois must confront the "integrity crisis" caused by his predecessors, indicted former Gov. Rod Blagojevich and imprisoned former Gov. George Ryan.
Quinn says it's time to disinfect Illinois government of corruption.
Quinn spoke about education at a Chicago school Tuesday while Blagojevich appeared in federal court for his arraignment on federal corruption charges.
Blagojevich pleaded not guilty to the charges, including allegations he tried to profit from President Barack Obama's vacant U.S. Senate seat.
Ryan is serving a 6½-year prison sentence after being convicted of racketeering and fraud.
Quinn has launched a state reform commission, which revealed its blueprint for change last month. The commission's initial recommendations include capping individual campaign contributions.
Quinn says Illinoisans need to look forward.
