Sewer meeting set tonight

HOLIDAY HILLS – Holiday Hills residents will get to voice their opinion about the possibility of a new village sewer system tonight.

The Village Board will host an informational town meeting on the topic at 7 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 405 W. Route 176, Island Lake.

Board President-elect Mickey Brown said estimates showed that the project would cost more than $4 million, and officials didn’t want to move forward without community support.

“Due to the economic times, we wanted to see if the residents even feel if they are going to support this project,” she said. “We want to know what the people think.”

Residents will hear funding possibilities during the meeting as well as specifics about the engineering side of the project. Afterward, residents will receive a survey about the project, and the board will act accordingly, Brown said.

The village already had a Wastewater Feasibility Study done in 2007 and then updated this year, and information from that also will be presented tonight.

“We need to either move forward,” Brown said, “or put it to bed right now.”
