SG Fire to discuss spending of referendum money

A tax increase for residents serviced by Spring Grove Fire was narrowly approved by 10 votes in the election earlier this month. Tonight, fire officials will discuss spending the money to replace a tanker and engine.

The discussion will be at a meeting of the Spring Grove Fire's Board of Trustees. It's at 7 p.m. at the department, 8214 Richardson Road, in Spring Grove.

The tax increase will cost owners of a $300,000 about $90 a year, and could potentially generate $225,000 to $237,000 annually for the department. To make any replacement purchases, Spring Grove Fire is considering taking out a zero percent loan from the State FIre Marshall's Office to replace a 1980 tanker and 1985 engine.
