Shred, shred, shred on Saturday
Bring old bills, credit card statements and any other top secret documents to the "Community Shred Day" fundraiser, to be held by Johnsburg Police Explorer Post No. 567 from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
A mobile shredding truck will be parked at Sunnyside Memorial Park, next to the village hall, so that residents can safely dispose of documents containing sensitive information. Documents that should be securely disposed of include: old bills, credit card statements, ATM receipts, deposit slips, cancelled checks, tax returns older than seven-years-old, medical files and loan information.
Donations are requested for the shredding service. Shredding costs $5 for up to 50 pounds of paper, $10 for up to 130 pounds, and $25 for more than 130 pounds. No need to get rid of staples, paperclips or rubber bands, but make sure documents don't have plastic, vinyl or are in binders.
Donations will benefit Johnsburg Police Explorer Post No. 567 and allow uniforms and equipment to be purchased, as well as Post activities to be funded.
