Roller coaster sports season

My husband and I have just gotten on the roller coaster that is the sports season. This time around, we have one of the twins playing baseball and one playing soccer. Of course, as expected, the schedules sometimes overlap, so this means coordinating their two schedules with drop-offs, picking which parent goes to which game, and deciding where the little one is going for the day. The preparation that is required for this is so intense, itis truly a reward when we can finally sit and enjoy their games.

My son who is playing soccer has never played the sport before, so I knew this would be fun watching him learn. In the process of doing this, we have discovered that he is a natural, so now we know we are going to be in it for the long haul. He will definitely be playing soccer for a long time. My other twin
not only loves baseball, but baseball loves his dad. My husband has been invited to coach for next year. Naturally, we go where we are needed, so my husband will be coaching next year. I am thrilled to be on this roller coaster.

I never realized how much fun it could be sharing all of this with your children. For us, it is even more fulfilling because of how involved we get with the whole process. My husband has been assistant coaching baseball all season, and I love watching him share his time and talent every game.

We have the normal, every-day schedule that you would think would limit our involvement in things, but if you have learned anything from my blogging, it wouldn't surprise you that we thrive on chaos. I am having so much fun with this sports season, I am encouraging the other two little ones to pick their sports so we can really have a blast.

These are the times we are going to cherish. The time when your children try new things and discover where their talents lie, and when they discover that they may be better at something than they thought, I cannot describe how exciting that is to see. I have to admit that I did not realize how much fun I would have being the soccer and baseball mom. I initially thought of all of the time it would consume, and the long innings etc. Now that I am into it, I cannot wait until the next game. My boys thank me personally for attending the games, and let me know that it is appreciated, not just automatically expected. To hear this, especially from boys, makes me cherish them even more. We are making some more amazing memories to add to our family history, and I am so proud to be the real "play ball" mom.
