Belated Father's Day message

We had a wonderful Father's Day. I spent time planning a great day for my husband and my father. I was going to have breakfast with my Daddy, so I had to make sure my husband was taken care of.

I made a gourmet breakfast for him and the boys. I made sure I had everything covered, all the right and favorite foods, his coffee, etc. Of course, things don't always go exactly as planned. The meal was perfect, and my husband was very appreciative of the effort and hard work. The baby having an exploding diaper and the dog also having an accident in my living room were not part of the picutre perfect breakfast scene. Luckily, my wonderful sons assisted me with giving Nykko an impromptu bath in the kitchen, while cooking breakfast.

I wish I had the scene on tape because it is much funnier when you look at it a second time. The main thing is that when my husband returned from getting bagels, the mess was cleaned and the breakfast was served. I went out with my Daddy and spent some quality time with him reminiscing about old times.

My boys came over to give their grandpa cards and gifts, and then it was off to fetch dinner for my husband. I wanted to make sure he got a full Father's Day without grilling, cooking or too much work. It was his day to be pampered.

He always takes great care of me on Mother's Day, and I wanted to return the favor. We must not forget how important fathers are. I know when they do those surveys of how much money is spent on mothers and fathers, it is always so much less on Father's Day. That always sticks in my head because I appreciate how much daddies mean to us. Our daddies and the daddies of our children. They are
traditionally the breadwinners of the family, and I sympathize with Everymom who wrote in her blog how her husband is responsible for her and her five children, I am in the same boat. That is a lot to have on your shoulders, but it is ultimately worth it.
