Rain at the racetrack

The rain is starting to abate here at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, and crews are working to dry the track with blowers that sound like jet engines.

Qualifying for the Nationwide Series Dollar General 300 race is scheduled for 2:05 p.m., and so far there has been no announcement that it will be postponed.

The weather could worsen later today, with severe thunderstorms possible. The Dollar General 300 is scheduled to run at 7 p.m. tonight. If rain forces it to be postponed, the plan is to run it at 11 a.m. Saturday.
