More details about the Walmart

Developers shared detailed plans for a Johnsburg Walmart store at a meeting Tuesday night. While today's article talks a lot about the proposed store's architecture and retail offerings, developers also touted its energy efficiency.

The large Walmart sign at the front of the store will be lit by LED lights, which are supposedly more environmentally friendly because they have fewer carbon monoxide emissions and don't contain mercury.

The store itself will have 200 skylights as part of a daylight harvesting system, so the store will use less electricity.

"On a sunny day, there will be more light in the store with all the lights off than on a cloudy day with all the lights on," said Richard Hayes, an architect working on the project.

There also will be a battery recycling center where shoppers can bring their used batteries to safely dispose them, developers said Tuesday night.

What do you think about the proposed store? Will it be a good fit for Johnsburg?
