Organizers plan first Bark for Life event in Cary

Dogs are being recruited to join the fight against cancer in an American Cancer Society  Bark for Life event to be held in Cary.

Bark for Life of McHenry County is planning a special fundraiser to take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22 at Lions Park in Cary. Bark for Life is a one-mile walk for dogs and their owners.

Money raised is to be used to support members of the community, cancer research and other American Cancer Society efforts.

Registration is open for the event online at www.barkforlifemchenrycounty.com or by calling 630-879-9009.

The event is to include activities for participants and dogs, including a dog/human look-a-like contest, dog karaoke and dog camp where dogs can run, play, and climb on jungle gyms.
