Summer speeds by

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

I can't believe we are entering August already. I specifically remember the last day of school in June.

I had all these plans, and I am excited to say I was able to make them all happen. The sad reality I have encountered is that it will soon be over, and the kids will be back in school. Now I totally know what most of you, or at least some of you, are thinking. "Is she kidding me?" I will admit of course that I have those moments where my house looks like a disaster and I can't wait to have an empty house so I can clean. But other than that, the reality of back to school hits hard. No more hot days where we can't wait to get into the pool, no more extended bedtimes and playdates that last into the evening.

We just started going to North Avenue Beach, and in a couple of weeks, that will be over. I feel especially this summer we were really challenged in the weather department, and just when summer really kicked in, you realize all the stores have the back to school stuff out. I appreciate my summers with my children. I am so fortunate to be home with them to enjoy the fun times. I
let the kids do one camp, but I don't want their whole summer spent going from one camp to another.

Even when we get on each other's nerves, there is always something fun to do to get us out of our rut. Coming up with things to keep the summer going takes a little planning, but I can tell you it is all worth it. Nothing makes me smile more than when we do an activity I planned out and the kids thank me for such a great time. I don't let weather ruin anything. I have back-up plans ready to go. When you have as many kids as I do, you must always be ready.

I guess this blog is just about how fast this all goes. You have all these great things on the calendar, and then when you've done them, you are that much closer to the end of summer. You start thinking
about your childhood summers and how much fun you had.
