Woman airlifted after crash

A 54-year-old woman was airlifted from the scene of a three-car accident in the Marengo area Wednesday morning.

The crash, which happened about 6 a.m., was at the intersection of Route 20 and Church Road, said Lt. Mark Pankow, of the Marengo Fire Protection District.

Richard C. Anderson Jr., 23, was driving a Ford F-350 pickup on Route 20 and allegedly turned onto Church Road, into the path of Michael L. Oliver, 36, who was driving a Ford F-250 pickup, said Sgt. Daniel Patenaude of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department.

Anderson then allegedly continued into the oncoming traffic lane, hitting Marlyss T. Bartnick, who was driving a Cadillac SRX4.

Bartnick, of Harvard, was trapped in her vehicle until emergency officials arrived on the scene. She suffered extensive leg injuries, Patenaude said. Anderson, of Belvidere, and Oliver, of Poplar Grove, were treated at and released from the scene.

Anderson was cited in connection with failure to provide proof of insurance and failure to yield.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash, and the incident is under investigation, Patenaude said.
