The White Sox placed second baseman Chris Getz on the 15-day disabled list Friday because of a strained oblique muscle.

Getz, 25, injured himself Tuesday at Seattle. An oblique injury forced Cubs catcher Geovany Soto to miss more than a month, although the extent of Getz's injury is not clear.

Getz is hitting .267 with two home runs, 28 RBIs and 18 stolen bases in 89 games with the White Sox this season. He leads all rookies in the American League with 83 hits and 25 multi-hit games.

To replace Getz, the Sox recalled infielder Brent Lillibridge from Triple-A Charlotte. Lillibridge hit .252 with three home runs, 24 RBIs and 17 stolen bases in 67 games with Charlotte after hitting .162 in 26 games with the Sox to start the season.

Jayson Nix likely will receive most of the playing time at second base with Getz out. Lillibridge mainly will be used to spell Nix at second base and Alexei Ramirez at shortstop.
