Harden seeks run support
The Cubs do not have to score 17 runs for Rich Harden on Sunday, but the pitcher would appreciate more run support than usual.
The Cubs have scored three runs or fewer in 17 of Harden's 20 starts this season. Harden (7-7) will look for more support when he faces the Pirates, whom the Cubs have battered for six wins in eight games this season.
In his past six starts, Harden is 2-1 with a 1.95 ERA for the Cubs. He allowed one run in seven innings in his first career start against the Pirates on June 29.
Harden was perfect through 5 1/3 innings in his last start Tuesday against Philadelphia, but Jimmy Rollins spoiled his no-hitter and shutout with a two-run home run in the sixth. The Cubs lost the game en route to a Phillies sweep, but they have a chance to finish the homestand 3-3 with a sweep against the Pirates on Sunday.
Sunday's game starts at 1:20 p.m. and airs on WGN-TV and WGN-AM 720. Harden will oppose Pirates right-hander Ross Ohlendorf, who is 10-8 with a 4.30 ERA.
