Sox start after delay

The White Sox and Royals started their series after a 58-minute rain delay Monday night.

Rain started to fall about 6:50 p.m. on the infield tarp at U.S. Cellular Field. The rain relented about 7:45 p.m., which is when the team initially had hoped to start after a half-hour delay.

A sellout crowd cheered as grounds crew members ran on to the field to remove the tarp. The crowd took advantage of the team's half-price ticket promotion to pack U.S. Cellular Field.

Mother Nature has not been a fan of Chicago baseball this week. The Cubs postponed their game after a rain delay that extended for more than three hours Sunday.
