A bright side this time of year
We've dealt with high temperatures here in Basra, but up to this point it's been dry. Just in the last couple days, we've started hitting humidity levels in the upper 70s.
Compared to the previous high of 43 percent, that's pretty high. As soon as I step outside, I'm reminded of those hot, muggy, sticky days of August when you don't even want to go outside. Except it's hotter here and we have to go outside; to eat, to walk to work, to go to the bathroom. You get my point.
But there is a bright side. In addition to the humidity, this time of year brings leave to many soldiers. It's the military version of vacation. So sometime in the next few weeks, I'll get to take a couple weeks off and visit Crystal Lake. By the time I get back, I'll only have a couple months left of this little adventure before I'm done.
