Orton adjusts to Denver

Former Bears quarterback Kyle Orton has enjoyed his time in Denver despite a rough start to the preseason.

Orton, who will face the Bears on Sunday at Denver's Invesco Field, has thrown one touchdown pass and four interceptions in two preseason games. But he said he has adjusted quickly to the offensive scheme favored by Broncos coach Josh McDaniels.

"It’s been great," Orton said. "It’s been a good transition for me. I love the city, and I certainly love the organization and the team."

Orton threw for 2,972 yards for the Bears last season with 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He said he was caught off guard by the trade that sent him to Denver for Jay Cutler.

"I certainly didn’t expect it," Orton said. "I wasn’t paying attention to the whole matter and really didn’t expect it, but [I] didn’t feel sorry for myself or anything. [It] looks like an opportunity that I can certainly take advantage of."

Who will throw more touchdown passes this season, Cutler in the Bears offense or Orton in the Broncos offense?

"I don't really care," Orton said. "I don’t think touchdown passes necessarily equals wins, so what would that matter to me?"
