Bears boost secondary
The Bears signed defensive back Rod Hood on Tuesday and waived wide receiver Derek Kinder.
Hood, 27, has started 43 games and appeared in 44 others in six seasons in the NFL. The 5-foot-11, 198 pound Auburn alum has 11 interceptions and one sack in his career, which includes four seasons with the Eagles and two seasons with the Cardinals.
Hood was with the Cleveland Browns this summer, but the Browns released him this week. He signed a one-year contract with the Bears and will add depth to a cornerback position that includes an injured Charles Tillman, Nathan Vasher, Trumaine McBride and Corey Graham.
Kinder, 23, was a seventh-round draft choice this season. He caught one pass for four yards this preseason after starting 32 games with the University of Pittsburgh over the past four seasons.
Hood will wear No. 32 with the Bears.
