Pantry reopens Wednesday

The Grafton Township Food Pantry is getting settled into its new location and plans to reopen Wednesday to area residents.

This weekend, the nonprofit pantry moved into a portion of a building where MLS Mailing Inc. in Huntley operates. Owners Angel and Maria Vazquez offered the shared space after the pantry board had conducted a six-month search for a new location.

Ongoing litigation between the township and a group of residents has halted progress on a new town hall – which would have included an upgraded food pantry – so volunteers began seeking other options.

The pantry’s new address will be 12191-B Smith Drive. Hours of operation are 1 to 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Drop boxes are at Huntley Harris Bank, the Huntley Area Public Library, the Huntley Park District and Lakewood Village Hall.
