It might not matter for the postseason, but the White Sox and Cubs each added several players Tuesday after teams were allowed to expand their rosters.

The White Sox called up highly touted prospect Tyler Flowers, whom they acquired from the Braves last winter in a deal for Javier Vazquez. Flowers, who will wear No. 39 for the Sox, hit .297 with 15 home runs and 56 RBIs in 108 games while playing catcher between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte this season.

In addition to Flowers, the Sox recalled infielder Josh Fields and pitcher Carlos Torres from Triple-A Charlotte and activated second baseman Chris Getz and outfielder Dewayne Wise from the 15-day disabled list. Getz had been sidelined with a strained right oblique muscle, while Wise was out with a sore shoulder.

On the North Side, the Cubs recalled outfielder Micah Hoffpauir, infielder Andres Blanco and pitcher Justin Berg from Triple-A Iowa. Hoffpauir hit .233 with eight home runs and 25 RBIs in 81 games with the Cubs this season, while Blanco hit .237 with one home run and nine RBIs for the club. Berg, 25, pitched two scoreless innings in his only major league outing Aug. 13.
