Several local road projects might prompt Huntley drivers to seek alternate routes this fall.

The following is an update on projects still on their way to completion, courtesy of the Village of Huntley:

• The village's Street Improvement Program Addition – which includes Timer Drive and Douglas Street from Timer Drive West to Ruth Road – is underway and expected to be completed by Sept. 30.

• Kreutzer Road will be resurfaced from Smith Drive west to the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. The project will begin this month and tentatively be completed in November.

• In October, the village will add enhanced landscaping to the south side of Algonquin Road from Church Street to Ruth Road as part of the McHenry County Division of Transportation's Algonquin Road widening project.

Meanwhile, Reed Road widening between Haligus Road and Cambridge Drive has been postponed until spring 2010. The village is coordinating a detour with Lake and the Hills and the McHenry County Division of Transportation.

Construction schedules may be altered due to weather. For questions, call the village's engineering department at 847-515-5270. Periodic updates also are available on the village's Web site.
