Gotta love a good sale

You can support area parenting groups by shopping for some baby gear at a couple upcoming events.

The Miraculous Multiples Mothers of Twins Club (formerly Double Dilemma) is hosting its Fall/Winter Kids Resale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Holiday Inn in Crystal Lake, Route 31 and Three Oaks Road.

The ultimate resale features thousands of gently used items, including GAP, Gymboree, Carters, Little Tikes, Graco, Boutique and other products.

Admission to the resale is $1, and cash and checks are accepted. No strollers are permitted in the sales area. For more information, e-mail DoubleDilemma@aol.com.

Based in Crystal Lake, the Mothers of Twins Club is a non-profit support and social group for mothers of multiples, including twins, triplets and more.

And from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Thursday, the Parent Connection is hosting a fundraiser garage sale at 78 Talcott Ave., Crystal Lake. 

The sale will include clothes in sizes newborn to 5 as well as all sorts of kid friendly items, including toys, games, videos, books, stuffed animals, high chairs, strollers, bottles, a wipe warmer, a changing table and dresser and coats. Household items and adult clothing (including maternity) and shoes, as well as books, picture frames, electronics and other furniture items will be available.

The Parent Connection, a social and support group based in Crystal Lake, includes both stay-at-home and working parents throughout McHenry County. For more information or to contact the group, e-mail parent.connection@yahoo.com or leave a message at (815) 425-3766.

The group also is hosting playdates from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Veteran Acres Park in Crystal Lake and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Presidential Park in Algonquin. The events are open to area parents "looking for fun things to do with their small children."

The group's monthly meeting, open to anyone interested in learning more about the group, is scheduled from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at US Bank, 350 Commonwealth Drive, Crystal Lake. Welcome coffees are held the first Tuesday of the month at Woodscreek Park in Crystal Lake. The group offers ongoing twice weekly playdates at rotating locations, grownup nights out, special events and holiday parties.
