Mackeben celebrates Patriot Day

Mackeben Elementary School staff invite parents of students in the military or serving as police officers or firefighters to help lead the school in the pledge of allegiance on Friday.

So far, nine parents will be participating in the local Patriot Day event, where 700-plus students and staff will gather on the front walk to recite the pledge and sing a few patriotic songs.

The brief remembrance will take place at about 8:30 a.m. at Mackeben, 800 Academic Dr., Algonquin.
