Olsen seeks redemption

If Jay Cutler rebounds in Week 2, Bears tight end Greg Olsen could be a big reason why.

Olsen, whom many have predicted to reach the Pro Bowl this season, was limited to one reception for eight yards in the season opener at Green Bay. He said the Packers defense shut him down over the middle and forced the Bears to target their wideouts along the sidelines.

"They did a good job," Olsen said. "They treated it kind of as a nickel [coverage] like they did last year and did a lot of stuff with [Charles] Woodson kind of shadowing me."

The result was a quiet night for Olsen, 24, who caught 54 passes for 574 yards and five touchdowns last season.

"They did a good job, but as you can tell, we were able to make some plays," Olsen said. "Earl, Devin and Johnny made some big plays on the outside. So that’s something if teams continue to try to do, our guys on the outside will continue to make those plays. Eventually, they’re going to have to soften up and defend the whole field."

Olsen likely will be without his veteran colleague, Desmond Clark, in Sunday's home opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Clark injured his ribs against the Packers and likely will be replaced by Kellen Davis, a 6-foot-7 target who has not made a reception in the NFL.

"I’m very ready," Davis said. "It’s unfortunate what happened to Des, but yeah, I’m excited to finally get my shot and an opportunity to get on the field."
