"Evening with Eleanor" set
This year will mark the 125th birthday of Eleanor Roosevelt.
To celebrate, the Huntley Area Branch of the American Association of University Women is hosting an "Evening with Eleanor." The dinner fundraiser will benefit the AAUW Roosevelt Fund for research, scholarships and equity issues.
The public can meet Eleanor through historical impersonator Jessica Michna of Racine, Wisc., whose Roosevelt program has been well received at libraries, museums and colleges throughout the Midwest. The event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 11 at Randall Oaks Golf Club, located at 4101 Binnie Road in West Dundee.
This special evening also includes a social hour and “Roosevelt Era” dinner, raffles, an Eleanor book sale, and a silent auction of period collectibles, valuable gift baskets and gift certificates. Participants may wear their favorite era hats or outfits if they choose.
The event is open to women and men ages 12 and older.
Tickets cost $28 a person, or four for $100. For reservations, call Roberta Ratliff at 815-245-5355 by Oct. 4.
