New motto for Cutler

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has a new motto: "Whatever it takes."

Cutler met with reporters Wednesday before the Bears practiced for Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks. The Bears have struggled to establish the run this season, but Cutler said wins were all that mattered.

"Whatever it takes each and every week, we're going to figure out what it takes to win," Cutler said. "If it takes 50 times running the ball, if it takes 50 times passing the ball, that's going to be our philosophy: 'Whatever it takes to win.' "

In past seasons, Cutler has enjoyed a primary target in Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall. That has changed with the Bears, where Cutler has spread his passes to 10 receivers, tight ends and running backs through the first two games.

Earl Bennett leads the team with nine receptions, while Johnny Knox leads the team with 152 receiving yards. Devin Hester, who is considered the Bears No. 1 receiver, is second on the team with eight receptions for 111 yards.

"I think we're doing a good job of getting the ball to different guys, and not concentrating on one guy and forcing it in to him and making him have to catch 12 balls," Cutler said. "We're mixing it up. We're getting a lot of guys involved."

Bears coach Lovie Smith will address the media after Wednesday's practice at Halas Hall. Sunday's game against the Seahawks will mark the first time this season that the Bears will face a traditional 4-3 defense.
