My 3-year-old: "Why is 'shut up' a bad word?"

Me: "Because it's not nice to say to people."

Her: "But you could say it if you didn't have moms and dads and sisters. You could say if you didn't have no one, if you just had your own self. Then you could say, 'shut up,' and not talk."
