Bears see Hawks history

Bears running back Matt Forte and tight end Kellen Davis witnessed the biggest comeback in Blackhawks history on Monday night at the United Center.

No, they didn't leave early.

Forte dropped the ceremonial first puck, and he and Davis wore red Blackhawks jerseys with their names and numbers across the back. They watched the game from a suite above the 100 level and signed autographs for fans who lifted their Hawks jerseys over the railing.

For a while, that was all Hawks fans had to make them feel better. The Hawks trailed 5-0 midway through the first period, but they rallied for one goal late in the first period, three goals in the second, one in the third, and a game-winner in overtime.

After the second period, both Bears players left their seats and headed down to the ice. As part of a promotion between periods, they were among five people who tried to make a shot from center ice through a narrow slit in front of the goal.

Davis showed that he might have a career after football. His second shot slid directly through the opening, and he raised his arms and high-fived Forte to celebrate.

Forte was not so lucky. His first shot sailed wide right, his second shot sailed left, and his third shot was nowhere near the opening. We'll give him a break, though – there probably are not too many ice rinks in his hometown of Slidell, La., while Davis is from the hockey-loving state of Michigan.
