Earlier this month, the Huntley Area Public Library celebrated its 20th anniversary with a special open house.

About 200 guests were in attendance for the event, which included a public donation of $25,000 from the Friends of the Library, according to a news release. The Friends' donation will be used for shelving in the new mobile unit, to be located on the library's east side.

Also present were family members of Hazel Kloempken, one of the first founders of the library district who passed away last year. Relatives established a memorial at the library in her memory.

These gifts prompted the creation of the library's "Creating a Legacy" fund. Tax-deductible donations can be made to the fund in amounts of $100 or more, and will be recognized on a special donor wall.
