"Beauty and the Beast Jr." opens this weekend
Students at Heineman Middle School are putting the finishing touches on their performances and are ready to take the stage Friday and Saturday at Huntley High School's Performing Arts Center in the musical production of "Beauty and the Beast Jr."
Attendees will be transported to a French provincial town where the beautiful Belle lives with her inventor father. When her father doesn’t return from a trip to the local fair, Belle rushes off to find him. To her dismay, she discovers he is being held captive in an old castle by a horrible beast. Belle trades her freedom for her father’s and the “tale as old as time” begins. How Belle tames the unfortunate beast and his ultimate transformation into a handsome prince promises to dazzle.
Producing their 10th musical for District 158, directors Pam Jorgensen and Emily Moore along with costumer Kay Mills, set designers Kristin Plansky and Theresa Darby, and Huntley High School senior and choreographer Jen Sampson are excited about the 53 talented singers and dancers in their musical company and the challenging opportunity to showcase one of Walt Disney's best-loved stories.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There will also be a 2 p.m. matinee Saturday. Tickets cost $5 and will be sold at the door.
The Performing Arts Center is located at 13719 Harmony Road, Huntley. For more information, call Moore or Jorgensen at 847-659-4300.
