Woodstock leaf pickup scheduled

WOODSTOCK – The city collects bulk leaves every Monday for a four week period beginning Oct. 26.

Residents are asked to rake loose leaves to the parkway for collection, but should not rake the leaves into the street. Leaves that are raked into the street can plug storm sewers and cause flooding.

Residents must have leaves raked to the parkway by 7 a.m. the day of collection. Weather permitting, this is the schedule for Woodstock leaf pickup:

• Monday, Oct. 26 leaves will be collected from all streets north of the railroad tracks.

• Monday, Nov. 2 leaves will be collected from all streets south of the railroad tracks.

• Monday, Nov. 9 will be the final collection day for all streets north of the railroad tracks.

• Monday, Nov. 16 will be the final collection day for all streets south of the railroad tracks.

No vehicles should be parked on the street within 20 feet of any leaf pile. Residents who prefer to bag their leaves can call the public works office at 815-338-6118.

Bulk leaf collection along state highways can be dangerous for crews, residents who live along Route 47 and Route 120 are requested to bag their leaves and call the public works office to arrange collection. This is a request and is not mandatory.
