Hansbrough solid in Irish debut
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Ben Hansbrough scored
19 points in his Notre Dame debut, and Luke Harangody added 19 points and seven assists, leading the Fighting Irish to an 86-65 win against North Florida on Saturday.
Hansbrough, a transfer from Mississippi State, was 5 of 5 from three-point range. He is the younger brother of Tyler, the 2007-08 national player of the year at North Carolina.
E. Illinois 72, Toledo 62: At Toledo, Ohio, Jeremy Granger scored 21 points, and Eastern Illinois defeated Toledo in the season opener for both teams.
S. Illinois 91, Tenn.-Martin 63: At Carbondale, Carlton Fay came off the bench to score a game-high 18 points to lead Southern Illinois past Tennessee-Martin.
Ill.-Chicago 72, Ill.-Springfield 59: At Chicago, Zavion Neely scored a career-high 19 points and K.C. Robbins had a double-double in Illinois-Chicago’s victory.

No. 11 Butler 73, Davidson 62: At Indianapolis, Gordon Hayward scored 17 points and Willie Veasley added 15 to lead Butler past Davidson.
Butler (1-0) rallied
twice from 10-point deficits in the first half, then used a late run to seal it.

Harris had 18 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists to match the feat accomplished by Gary Grant against North Carolina in the 1987 NCAA tournament.

No. 21 Dayton 90, Creighton 80: At Dayton, Ohio, Chris Johnson had a double-double, and Chris Wright led a second-half surge that carried Dayton to a win against Creighton in an opening matchup of teams that won 27 games apiece last season.
No. 22 Georgia Tech 100, Florida A&M 59: At Atlanta, Iman Shumpert scored 18 points and capped a decisive run in the first half, and Georgia Tech showed off its freshmen in its win against Florida A&M.
