Rock on, winter break!
There exist three different stages of how students feel about winter break.
Stage one is during elementary and early middle school. Considering you’re still wired to wake up at 6 a.m. and be constantly active until about 10 p.m., out sledding and constructing snow people, forts and snowballs from sunrise to sunset, winter break is the highlight of your life since the last day of summer.
Then there is dreary stage two. You feel you have outgrown such trivial snow activities. You believe you are far too mature for such playtime and strive to find more mature things to do. Unfortunately, you spend two weeks sitting doing nothing and growing increasingly bored with yourself and your friends.
Stage three is where I’m at right now. You have discovered that while the younger children in your neighborhood play in the snow, you have two whole weeks to do nothing but nap and catch up on the sleep that you have missed out on the past three months of school.
Rock on winter break, now that I have come to see your glory. Rock on!
