CRYSTAL LAKE – McHenry County College’s Music Department will host Singers of United Lands 2010, featuring a singing quartet from four countries, Feb. 8.
The singers will perform during two workshops, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., in the MCC Conference Center, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.
The singers, from Estonia, Haiti, French Polynesia and Venezuela, will perform and teach songs from their native cultures during the two 55-minute performances.
The performers are on a six-month tour throughout the United States, according to an MCC news release.
MCC music instructor Steven Szalaj said this was the third consecutive year that he had invited S.O.U.L. to perform at the college as an educational opportunity for both students and community members.
“This group is enlightening because of the diversity of the performers who share authentic music and culture from each of their countries,” Szalaj said.
The event is free and open to the public. For information, contact Szalaj at sszalaj@mchenry.edu or Michael Hillstrom at 815-479-7814.
