McHenry County State's Attorney Lou Bianchi has named a new chief to replace his criminal chief who recently announced that she was leaving the office to work as a prosecutor elsewhere.
Bianchi this morning announced the selection of Assistant State's Attorney Philip Hiscock to fill the position formerly held by Nicole Owens. He will take over the role Feb. 17, Bianchi said in a written statement.
Hiscock currently is assigned to the office's special prosecution unit and was certified by the Illinois Supreme Court as a member of the Capital Litigation Trial Bar in 2008. He is a 1996 graduate of DePauw University and a 1999 graduate of DePaul University College of Law.
He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1996 to 2008, initially as an infantry officer and later as a trial attorney and legal adviser.
Before he began at the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office, Hiscock was a felony prosecutor in DuPage County and also practiced as a trial attorney in private practice handling civil litigation at a Chicago-based law firm.
