Harvard robberies could be related

WOODSTOCK – Police are seeking information about three possibly related armed robberies of convenience stores in the Harvard area.

In each robbery, the subject displayed a handgun, demanded money and fled the scene on foot after receiving cash. No one was injured.

The evidence suggests the same man could have committed all three, McHenry County Sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Cisner said.

The Chemung Quick Mart, 24102 Route 173, near Harvard, was robbed at 11:47 p.m. Saturday.

The male subject was described as about 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, an orange ski mask and sunglasses.

The evidence suggested that there might have been a second subject acting as a getaway driver in this robbery, Cisner said.

The Alden Quick Mart, 16420 Route 173, Alden, was held up at 7:03 p.m. Friday. The male subject was described as about 5 feet 10 inches tall, average build, and wearing a dark-colored hooded jacket or sweatshirt, an orange ski mask, and sunglasses.

The Lil Corner Store, 301 N. Division, Harvard, was robbed at 10:23 p.m. Jan. 24. The male subject was described as between 5-foot-8 and six feet tall. He was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, an orange face mask and sunglasses. Harvard police are investigating this incident in conjunction with the sheriff’s office.

Police urged the public not to approach a potential subject or potential subjects. Rather, residents can call police with information or if they see any suspicious activity.
