The McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce WINGs Professional Women’s group has selected Donna Schaefer as the recipient of WINGs 2010 Woman of Accomplishment Award.

Schaefer's nomination rose to the top because of her commitment to public service starting in 1988 when she became a McHenry County Board Member, chamber officials said in a press release.

In 1998 Schaefer became supervisor of McHenry Township. From 1988 until now, she has served on numerous boards including the Pioneer Center Board of Directors, Executive Committee for the McHenry County Council of Government, the Rotary Club of McHenry Board, and the FISH Food Pantry Board. She also has served on the United Way of McHenry County and League of Women Voters' boards, and on the  YMCA Camp Duncan Board.

Schaefer will share at the Woman of Accomplishment luncheon on March 17 how she arrived at her present position. She will discuss what she has learned from good and bad times as well as any obstacles she overcame on her way to becoming one of McHenry County's most dynamic women.

The luncheon will be at 11:45 a.m. March 17 at the McHenry Country Club. Those wishing to attend must register at www.mchenrychamber.com.
