A position on the District 158 school board is now open after former school board President Shawn Green resigned Thursday night.

Green had served on the board since April 2005 and was re-elected to a four-year term in April 2009. He left to spend more time with family and pursue a political career.

Interested District 158 residents can apply for the open board seat by submitting their resume and letter of interest to: Naomi Fettes, Executive Assistant of Board Operations, Consolidated School District 158, 650 Academic Drive, Algonquin, Ill., 60102. Information also may be faxed to 847-659-6122.

Deadline for submission is before 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 18.

Requirements of the non-paid, volunteer position include:

• A letter of interest

• A resume and three reference letters

• Proof of citizenship

• Proof of residency in District 158 and Illinois for at least one year

• Proof of voter's registration, for either McHenry or Kane counties

• Verification of at least 18 years of age by date of appointment

For information, call Fettes at 847-659-6103 or e-mail nfettes@district158.org. The school board will review resumes – which will be made public – and discuss the next step during its March 18 regular board meeting.
