Truth about common sense

"Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen." – Albert Einstein. I love this quote of Einstein’s because it is so true.

Because what really is common sense? Were expected to know it, use it, and be well versed in it. And while some of us are rather lacking in more areas of common sense than others, it is commonly accepted as being the knowledge needed to successfully carry on in one’s day.

Do something stupid and someone might say, “Wow, come on, that’s common sense.” Einstein disregards all respect he has for anyone that gives common sense credit.

If we, essentially, forget everything anyone has ever told us and begin to truly think for ourselves, do we lose our common sense? Is this newfound “uncommon” sense of no use to us in the modern world?

Why think for yourself when you can agree with what has been commonly accepted as correct for centuries … right?
