From the editor: Congratulations to students

Legacy Art Framing in Spring Grove recently had a client bring in an original hand-sewn 38-star American flag dating back to 1863 for preservation. The flag belonged to the client’s great-grandmother. Owner Luke DiSilvestro said it was every custom framer’s dream to work on projects of such historical significance. “It’s an honor to hold the responsibility of preserving a little bit of American history,” he said. • A couple of weeks back, I told readers about Hope Olson, a finalist in the Frame My Future scholarship contest, sponsored by Church Hill Classics, a Connecticut company that sells frames. This week, I received an e-mail from Hope reporting she was the contest’s grand prize winner. Congratulations to you, Hope, and good luck in the future. • Congratulations also go out to the 21 eighth-grade students who will be recognized during Immanuel Lutheran School’s first graduation at its Crystal Lake campus 7 p.m. June 2 at the school, 300 S. Pathway Court, Crystal Lake. • Harvard Milk Days kicks off McHenry County’s festival season next weekend.
