CRYSTAL LAKE – A truck rollover sent one driver to a local hospital Wednesday with minor injuries.
Shortly before 3 p.m., a man driving a 2007 Morgan Olson Workhorse delivery truck for Charity Pickup Service was headed south on Briarwood Road and trying to cross Route 176 when his vehicle traveled into the path of an eastbound 2008 Mack Truck tanker.
Crystal Lake Police Patrol Sgt. Dean Lisi said the semi clipped the right rear passenger side of the delivery truck, which caused it to spin and flip onto its driver’s side on Briarwood Road after it crossed the intersection.
The tanker was not damaged, but workers spent about 20 minutes flipping the delivery truck back onto its wheels to be towed. Westbound traffic on Route 176 was redirected for 40 minutes after the crash, while eastbound traffic was delayed as crews cleaned up the scene.
The delivery truck’s driver, 43-year-old Jessie Young of Markham, was taken by ambulance to Centegra Hospital – Woodstock with injuries that were not life-threatening. Lisi said that Young pulled himself out of the truck after the crash.
Young was cited for failure to yield and operating a motor vehicle without proof of insurance.
The semi driver, Jeremy Smith of Cary, was uninjured. No passengers were in either vehicle.
The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department also responded to the scene.
