Children 8 to 17 invited to take free flight

GREENWOOD – The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 932 will have a Young Eagles Rally on Sept. 11.

Volunteer pilots will take youngsters ages 8 to 17 up in planes for 20-minute flights to encourage them to explore aviation. The pilots also will take the youngsters through a pre-flight check.

Some pilots even may let youngsters hold on to the controls during part of the flight, said Eric Rehm, the acting Young Eagles coordinator.

The flights are free, and the rallies typically draw about 60 youngsters.

To register, fill out a form at eaa932.org under the “Young Eagles” section, call Rehm at 847-372-7686, or e-mail youngeagles@eaa932.org.

The Young Eagles rally will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 11 at Galt Airport, 5112 Greenwood Road.
