Walsh launches listening tour for small businesses

McHENRY – U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh, R-McHenry, wants to meet with small-business owners and others during a four-day listening tour during National Small Business Week.

Walsh will be at the McHenry County Economic Development Corporation Small Business Listening Session from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the Hampton Inn, 1555 S. Route 31, McHenry.

“America’s small businesses create 60 [percent] to 80 percent of all new jobs, and they employ just over half of the country’s private sector work force,” Walsh said in a statement. “If we want to get our economy moving again, we must promote policies that help small businesses thrive.”

The listening tour will give business representatives a chance to talk about the challenges they face and to suggest ways the Legislature can help, according a news release from the congressman.

Walsh will conduct similar sessions in Schaumburg, Barrington and Gurnee.
