Track record dismal

To the Editor:

The Northwest Herald reports that the Woodstock City Council continues to pursue ownership of the Old Courthouse on Woodstock’s Square, even thinking about using taxpayer dollars to pay the “donor’s” overdue lawyers’ bills. Has anyone at City Hall heard that the country is in a recession? Where’s the city think the tens of thousands or more of renovation dollars are going to come from? Springfield? Washington, D.C.? Nope, no money there.

What’s the realistic business plan for this acquisition? Is it as good and well thought out as the Die Cast redevelopment fiasco (now “bank owned,” proclaims the lonely sign over the acres of weeds)?

James F. Young
