CARY CRUISE NIGHT
Ongoing every Wednesday through Aug. 31, downtown Cary. Classic car show, featuring the best in hot rods, muscle cars, classic cars and more.
NORTHERN ILLINOIS QUILT FEST
July, August and September, anchor sites across Northern Illinois’ six counties. In McHenry County, exhibits at the McHenry County Historical Society and Museum, 6422 Main St., Union; McHenry County College, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake. Special attractions July 9 at Countryside Flowershop, Garden Center & Nursery, 5301 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake; and Aug. 19-20 at the Cosman Center, 12015 Mill St., Huntley. Three months worth of quilt exhibits and activities with quilted barns, quilt gardens and art exhibits.

LAKE IN THE HILLS SUMMER SUNSET FESTIVAL
Sept. 2-4, Sunset Park, Lake in the Hills. Parade, carnival rides, craft show and fireworks.

June 9-12, 16-19, 23-26 and June 30, Ravinia Park, Highland Park. Chicago’s “sound of summer” and the oldest outdoor music festival in the United States. Performances on the lawn, but also at several venues, including the pavillion, the Martin Theatre and Bennett Gordon Hall. Featured acts include Jennifer Hudson, Tony Bennett, Five for Fighting, Vanessa Carlton, Yo-Yo Ma, Guster and Jack’s Mannequin.
PRIDE OF THE FOX RIVERFEST
June 10-12, downtown St. Charles. Features the ancient sport of dragon boat racing, a 40-ton Fantasy Sand Sculpture, water ski shows, canine capers and pet boutiques and an assortment of events and entertainment for all ages. New this year: Car show on First Street; three-day craft show; ice cream and burger-eating contests; and Doc Barth, Americana on Tour.
June 10-12, Northcenter, Chicago. Features a blend of indie, pop, Indie Roots, rock and alternative country, as well as an average of 50,000 pounds of ribs.
June 21-26, downtown Geneva. Geneva’s Midsommar Festival with a parade, food, carnival rides, live music, a craft show and many children’s games. Includes Granquist Music Competition, one of the largest music contests in Illinois.
LONG GROVE STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL
June 24-26, downtown Long Grove. Entertainment, children’s activities and rides and all sorts of strawberry-themed foods, drinks and merchandise.
