Police: State Sen. Schmidt involved in domestic incident

WAUKEGAN – Lake County Sheriff's deputies were called to the Lake Villa home of State Sen. Suzanne Schmidt by her husband, Robert, earlier this week, Sheriff Mark Curran said Thursday in a press release.

Police were called to a domestic incident Tuesday evening involving the 60-year-old Republican state senator and her 63-year-old husband.

"At approximately 6 p.m., sheriff’s deputies were summoned by Robert to the Schmidt residence, where they took statements from both Suzanne and Robert regarding a verbal argument that resulted in this domestic call out," the press release said.

The incident remains under investigation and will be reviewed with the Lake County State's Attorney's Office.

"Due to the case still being under investigation, there will be no further comment from the Sheriff’s Office on this incident," Curran said in the release.
