North student named to Army’s All-American band

WOODSTOCK – He may not have been picked for the NFL draft, but for Woodstock North High School senior Anthony DeMartinis, it sure feels like it.

DeMartinis, 17, was selected to play with the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, next year for an all-expenses paid trip. He will play with the Pit-Marimba section.

As the first student from McHenry County to enjoy this honor, DeMartinis joins the ranks of 100 other elite musicians who were selected out of more than 1,000 who auditioned. More than 100 had auditioned in his category alone, DeMartinis said.
