Hebron man lands plane in farmer's field
HEBRON – A 65-year-old Hebron man was hospitalized in critical condition after he safely landed an experimental aircraft in a farmer's field while suffering a heart attack, authorities said.
Steven R. Nusbaum was flying the plane near his 10419 Vander Karr Road home about 5:22 p.m. Tuesday when his son, Chance A. Nusbaum, saw him land the plane in a field north of 7017 Miller Road. The son had been monitoring the flight, and when he arrived on the scene he found his father lying back in the plane's seat.
Sheriff's deputies and members of the Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District responded, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's Office press release.
