WOODSTOCK – Helping Paws Animal Shelter is hosting its first-ever Black Friday adoption event.

The no-kill shelter, at 2500 Harding Lane, Woodstock, will have special adoption fees from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday for all of its black cats and kittens. Fees, dropped by $30, will be as follows: Adults from $80 to $50; teens (older than 6 months) from $100 to $70 and kittens (younger than 6 monthers) from $130 to $100.

"We want more people to come check out how wonderful black cats are so they can find their forever homes," Helping Paws volunteer Mary Moltmann said in a news release. "Cats that are black tend to be overlooked and have a lower adoption rate than the other cats."

The shelter will be closed Thanksgiving Day but will reopen at noon on Friday.

All cats and kittens are spayed and neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.
