Thousands gathered in downtown Crystal Lake on Friday to watch the 2011 Festival of Lights Parade.

More than 50 floats participated in what is one of the city's most memorable events of the year . It is Crystal Lake's only night parade.

John and Daphne Kmitta and their children Josslynn, 6, and Fletcher, 3, were selected to ride in Santa's sleigh for the 2011 parade, according to Downtown Crystal Lake, which hosts the event.
