HARVARD – The Land Conservancy of McHenry County is looking for volunteers to help at a Gateway Park Oak Rescue this weekend.

TLC is looking for people to clear brush from around oaks that were standing at the entrance to Harvard when the town was incorporated more than 150 years ago.

Loppers and hand saws will be provided. Participants with chainsaws and safety gear (chaps and helmet) are encouraged to bring their equipment. No experience necessary, and on the job training will be provided.

Volunteers are asked to meet at Heritage Lane in Harvard from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 10.

TLC will provide food and drinks to fuel the volunteers.
